Now That Takes Me Back

Now come on, admit it, you all remember taping the chart show on a Sunday night.  Hovering your fingers over the buttons trying to cut out the voice of the DJ.  I can't be the only one.

We have a new challenge over at Cardz4guyz this morning.  Something beginning with T.  I chose Tape Cassette and used this image from Dr Digi's House of Stamps.  You have no idea how appropriate this is to me.  I now use CDs, DVDs and even Blu Rays in my job but, back in the day, it used to be all tapes.  It won't be long before everything is just down loadable.  Well,  all these changes in technology are keeping me on my toes.

Here's my card.

I can't say I miss having to untangle the tape when it gets stuck though.  Please pop over and see what the DT have chosen for their letter T and we'd love to see yours too.

Absolute Beginners

Morning all.  This is a quick post as I'm cutting it fine to enter The Library Challenge.  I'm only on here to do this one and then I'm back off to my sick bed with this lousy cold.  The card has been in my drawer waiting to be finished for weeks.  I intended to add a sentiment but, as it is, I just added a couple of gems instead.  The image is from Little Claire's but her website is down (I don't know if this is a permanent thing or not - does anyone know?)

I kept it very simple and echoed the book cover by stenciling the brickwork in blue.  I hope you like it.

Add a Little Seasoning

Morning all.  Time for a new challenge over at Back to Basics and Beyond.  The Salt Technique is new to me.  I've never tried it before.  To be honest, I wasn't sure it was really me.  I've got some watercolours - up to now they've mainly been for show as I rarely use them.  I have watercolour paper...just in case I ever do decide to break out the paint.  I was even surprised to find we had rock salt in the kitchen cupboard.  Heaven knows how long that's been in there.  I can't remember buying it.  So there it is.  No excuses.  I have the means to do the deed - and, strangely enough, I really enjoyed it.  I fully expected this to be a pain - especially as I have no patience - but I am keen to try it again.  I used a deep blue and purple before sprinkling on the salt.  Once I had the background I just needed to find a die cut to top it.  I cut the 'just because' on my cricut out of black glitter card and used the same colours to paint my butterfly wings.

I'm so chuffed with this.  What do you think?

Pop over to see what the rest of the DT have come up with and I can recommend giving this one a try.

Winter Birthday Wishes

Morning all.  Time for a new challenge at Make My Monday.  The theme is to create something for a Winter Birthday.  In our family there are plenty of potential recipients for this type of card.  I went for this fun image from Mo's Digital Pencil.  It reminds me a little of my Great Niece Phoebe.  She is such a happy and fun individual - who also happens to have a birthday at the end of this month.  Two birds and all that.  She's quite a girly girl so it had to be pink really.

What do you think?

The DT have created some fab projects to inspire you and we love to see your creations.  Please pop over and join the fun.

Getting There - Just Not Sure Where

More excitement this morning as I reveal my final new DT space on The Alphabet Challenge.  If I can manage to juggle all these posts it's going to be nothing short of a miracle.  I'm on Team A and Emma R has chosen V for Vehicle.  Just up my street then.  Now...which type of vehicle do I choose?  In the end I decided on our latest obsession - a camper van - (although we don't have a VW - we have a Mazda Bongo).

I love this image from Dr Digi's House of Stamps.  To be fair, he's got tonnes of images that would fit the bill and I've got quite a few. I just picked a couple of backing papers and added all the bits and pieces.  I don't really think it matters where he goes.  It's more to the point that he's getting away.

I hope you like what I've done with him.

Pop on over to the challenge and have a go.  I'd love to see what you come up with.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Morning all.  I trust we are all getting back into the swing of things and are ready for the new challenge over at Cardz4guyz.   We always aim to provide inspiration for the men in your life and there is plenty of scope with this week's topic - planes, trains and automobiles.  My particular man is all about automobiles (although we did have a period of scootering for a while).  We have had several minis in the past, as well as other cars, but we now have a Mazda Bongo which we can camp in.  Anyway, on to my card.

I was lucky enough to receive the Art Deco Cricut cartridge from mum and dad for Christmas and I was itching to use it.  To be fair I could have plumped for all three modes of transport but, by the time I'd finished, my card would have probably been A3 sized.

Here's what I did with it.  I hope you like it.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  I'm usually disappointed with cricut images on my cards and tend to use it for cutting backgrounds.  I think, if this is anything to go by, you will be fed up with this type of card before I'm finished.

Please pop over to see what the DT girls have done and we'd love to see your interpretation of the theme.

New Year, New Stash, New Design Team

Morning all.  I am very excited to be joining the Design Team over at Sparkles Monthly Challenge.  I am really enjoying my Design Team work and have been very luck to be accepted on a couple of new teams.  I love to see what the other girls have created and it's a great way to find new blogs to stalk.

My first challenge for Sparkles is to use new stash.  Santa was a bit mean with craft stash this year - although he was very generous with other things.  I just think my hubby looks at all the stuff I've got and thinks 'what more can she need'?  Anyway, mum and dad bought me a cricut cartridge which I did use for a Cardz4guyz challenge but it is still new stash and I am so happy with it I didn't really need an excuse to use it again.  Here's my card.

This has to be one of my favourite patterns on the cartridge.  I cut it in pearlised card and some silver glitter card and it looks so lovely in real life.  I hope you like it too.

Please pop over and join in the fun.  I would love to see your new stash and what you've done with it.

Whoo loves Tiddlyinks?

I decided this week to have an extra day off work (it's hard going back after the holidays) so I had a little time to play with some challenges.  The first challenge I chose to join is the Tiddlyinks Challenge.  It's anything goes - as long as you use one of their images - so I had plenty of scope.  I also had a couple of new purchases that I hadn't coloured yet so it gave me a perfect excuse.  I love this little Owl in his tree and I really enjoyed this card, right up to the point when I decided it looked a bit empty around the edges.  I decided to add the pink frame.  Should be easy enough.  I have a cricut and loads of card.  It's a good job I did have loads of card.  I couldn't get it right.  I cut so many of the flippin things.  You will, no doubt, be seeing them on lots of future projects.  Anyway, this is the end result.

I'm happy with the end result, even if it didn't go quite to plan.

A Shaped Card

Morning all.  Time for a new challenge over at Back to Basics and Beyond.  This time you have to create a shaped card.  No squares or rectangles allowed. My first thought was to go with a hexagon card and cover it with the honeycomb background I did on a previous card - here if you want to see it.  But I figured it would look too similar.  I'd already cut my card blank so I decided to simply mat and layer it.  I couldn't get the idea of Pooh Bear out of my head though so I picked a different stamp from the same set (very old and haven't got a clue who's it is, sorry) and this is how it turned out.

The mat is actually yellow but my scanner seems to be washing things out at the moment.  It's not what I usually create but I'm quite pleased with the result.  Please pop over and join in the fun.  I do like to see how everyone interprets the challenge.

Well behaved? Not a bit of it!

Morning all.  Hope you are all ready for a new challenge in the new year.  This morning's challenge over at Make My Monday is to use a word or a sentiment.  As soon as I saw the challenge I knew which stamp to use.  I've had it for donkey's years.  It was one of the first stamps I bought.  It was wood mounted.  I'd forgotten how difficult it was to stamp without a stamp platform.

The stamp itself has an outline of a 'Marilyn Monroe' figure on it but I only wanted the sentiment so I masked that part off.  I'd got a lovely image from All Dressed Up called 'Season to Sparkle'.  I thought it would go well with this sentiment so I paired them up.  To be fair, it looks a lot better in real life as I've added some sparkle which doesn't show in the picture.  I flung a few sequins and gems at it and this is what it looks like.

I'm having to stop myself from going back over her hair.  I've been trying to leave more highlight but it's hard to let well alone.

Please pop over and have a look at the challenge.  We'd love to see what you come up with.
