Trying Triangles

Morning all.  Today, over at Cardz4galz we would like you to try 'triangles' on your creations.  I have a triangle die set but it gets very little use and I don't think I've ever used it on a female card.  Oh well, here goes.

I was quite pleased to find some pink paper with a few triangles on it, amongst lots of other shapes but they are there if you look hard enough.  I then lined my die cuts in a strip and edged it with washi tape.  After than I just added a sentiment and butterfly to finish it off.

Please pop over and join in the fun.

Summer Fun

Morning all.  Over at Cardz4guyz today we are looking for some 'summer fun'. Loads of scope for your creations with this one.  Personally, I love to go camping.  Me and a few books in the middle of a field is my happy place. Well, anywhere with a few books and time to read them is my happy place really.

For my card I chose to go back in time to when my son was never happier than surfing the waves in Cornwall.  He took a few lessons on holiday when he was a child.  He's always been a bit of a water baby.  It's a pity we live so far from surfing beaches as I think he'd have kept it up.

OK, what do your guyz do for fun during the summer?

Colouring fun

Morning all.  This week's challenge at Make My Monday is suitable for all.  Didn't you just love colouring in when you where little.  I know I did.  I still love it now and I have a good reason to do it.  Let's see your 'Colouring' (any medium) please.

When I first started colouring images for my cards I used water colour pencils (not very successfully).  Then a friend gave me some promarkers that she no longer used.  There was plenty of life left in them and I'm still using them.  I've also added a full set of Spetrum Noir markers to my collection so I have plenty of options.  It took me so long to get brave enough to go bold with my colours.  I'm glad I did though.  It makes such a difference.  This is an old image from Bugaboo (no longer available, sadly).  I have coloured it so many times in so many colours but pink and green are one of my favourites.

Ok, crack out those pens, pencils, inks and paints and let's see your creations.

Yellow is my friend apparently!

Now, having publicly stated that Yellow and Orange are my least favourite colours I've posted two yellow cards in two days.  What is happening to me?

Over at The Alphabet Challenge we are up to 'F for Friendship'.  Well, as I'm running really late this week with my challenge cards I was looking through my pre-made card blanks.  I use my paper scraps and card sketches to make up card blanks that I can add to in a hurry. I picked out a pretty paper with stitched detail that must have been in there for years.  I printed a quote from Cintra Graphics on Etsy and threw a butterfly at it.

I'm really quite chuffed with the result.  Maybe working at the eleventh hour is what I need to do.  If I don't give myself time to think about it my cards come out ok.

Please pop over and have a look at the DT's work.  They are lovely.

Pleased as Punches (or Dies)

I am so pleased with this new challenge over at Cardz4galz.  I have so many dies and some don't get out much.  We want to see 'punches or dies' used on your projects please.  To be fair I have punches too but I don't like them half as much.

The idea for this card popped into my head and translated way better than I imagined it would.  Surprisingly, I couldn't get the idea out that it had to be yellow.  Yellow and orange are my least favourite colours but I needed this one to be yellow.  My brain is acting funny.

I absolutely love how it turned out.  I need to make another with the papers I have left.  Considering I don't like that paper I wish I had more of it now.

Ok, over to you. If you need inspiration - or even if you don't - please pop over and see what the DT have come up with.  They are such a talented and creative bunch.

Watch the birdie

Ok, so I'm seriously off the ball this week.  Sorry that this one's a day late. Better late than never though.  We are looking for 'things with wings' this month over at Sparkles Monthly Challenge

Now call me biased if you like but my husband is awesome!  Recently, on a trip to a local garden centre, I called into Crafter's Companion which is in the same building.  I was browsing all the beautiful things that I definitely didn't need when he called me over.  He'd found the bargain clearance section and had found me two stamp sets that were so far up my street I had to have them.  However, the sets were on 3 for a tenner.  I probably wouldn't have looked at this one otherwise.  He picked it out and said he thought it would look lovely on a card.  He wasn't wrong.  I had so much fun colouring it too.  No you can't have him, he's married to me!

Dad

This week's challenge at Cardz4guyz is a little hard for me.  We want to see 'Father's Day' projects please.  My dad always had his birthday the same week as Father's day and I would have to come up with two cards in one week.  Now he's no longer with us I can think of so many ideas for cards I would have loved to send him.

I've kept my DT project fairly generic as it will probably go to Church or to Charity for them to sell.  I love how it turned out but, if I was sending it to my dad, I would have put a daft comment underneath the word.  Or I'd have had to put a bird on it, or a cricket bat, or a football or something else he used to love.

Sorry, this post is a little self indulgent.  Those of you who have followed my blog for a while will have seen photos of my daft dad.  I miss him so much.

Anyway, lets see what you've all been making for your daft dads.

I did say he was daft!

Summer fun

Morning all.  OK, the bank holiday celebrations are over with.  Back to normal today!  If, however, this weekend has kicked those summer vibes into action today's topic of 'Summer Fun' - over at Make My Monday - may be just what you are looking for.

I'm still playing catch up so I used some puffy stickers on a background I'd created a while ago.  I'm really pleased with the result.  It certainly screams summer to me.  It's a pity the weather outside is not in agreement.

Please pop over and join in the fun.

God Save the Queen

Morning all.  We have a lovely new challenge for you over at The Alphabet Challenge today.  We are looking at 'E for Embossing' either wet or dry will do.  Believe it or not I didn't set out to make this card.  My ideas were entirely different but I got caught up in the patriotic tide when I found my Union Flag embossing folder.

It's got to be the simplest card I have ever made.  I really hope Her Majesty had an amazing day yesterday.  I'm all dressed up in Red, White and Blue and I'm off out for the day myself.

Please pop over and join in the fun.

Patterned paper? Where do I begin!

Morning all.  We have a lovely new challenge over at Cardz4galz starting today.  We would like to see 'two or more patterned papers' on your project please.  Luckily, I do have a couple of sheets of patterned paper hanging around, lol.  And, believe it or not, I didn't use it as an excuse to buy another pad.  In fact, the 12 x 12 pad called 'Dreamy Pastels' (from Craft Sensations), is the closest one I've ever come to using up.  I really love every paper in it - even the cut aparts.  I did find two sheets I'd not already cut into and this is what I came up with.

The cut apart I used has a larger version of the leaf frond on it and had a panel in the middle.  I didn't think the wording on the panel was suitable for a card so I covered it with these beautiful flower toppers that I've had hanging around forever.  The beauty of cutting the papers this way is that I have a matching set to make another card with.

OK, let's see those pretty patterns guys.  You know I'm always on the lookout for pretty paper.

It's going to be a Cute Christmas

Wow, almost halfway through the year already.  Best get cracking with those Christmas cards.  And we are here to help with this month's theme over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge.  We would love to see your 'Cute Christmas Critters' please.  Having gone through my images and needing something quick (you have no idea how far behind I am with my DT work) I had a pile of cute critters to chose from.  Then I had a look through my Hunkydory toppers and found another pile of cute critters - literally.

Aren't they sweet, all piled up looking like a Christmas tree.  None of them looking at the other thinking 'Yum, lunch'!  Sorry, I couldn't help it.  I did use a couple of pieces of hideous designer paper but, thankfully, as the topper is so huge it hides most of it.

Ok, let's see your cute Christmas Critters please.

Thanks for reading.
